I started composing this on vacation on a text file on my telephone since it struck me in some random area in the world one thing that I love about my job: freedom.
forget if it was in an email or on twitter answer, but one man asked me a “what if” question: What if you stop working, what can you miss the most about your job?
This. I’d miss this. Having the ability to take a vacation and then extend it for whatever amount of time which I needed. Go no one need to get back to work and wherever I needed. I had one phonegirl call me since I left to see was my vacation, I sent her a text back saying that I am fine and will be back who knows when. I am away to learn more about the planet.
I might miss not having to tell or describe to folks where when or why I am going somewhere, for a protracted quantity of time. Set in notices in advance to someone or clients (if I owned my own company). There is nothing right now holding me back from going anyplace at anytime whenever I desire. I don’t have to wait for a pay check when I get back to reset or if I went over vacation days. While I get back I earn and can work instantly.
She said the work schedule and making her own time slots up that she favored. She liked working the swing shift, 6 pm. She took off when she wanted to spend some time in the home and always took off Sundays. She has a powerful personality and she was worried that she wouldn’t do well with the sudden change of having an actual boss and occupation where she didn’t bring in much. Also of getting a pay check that, the change came after a specific time, not just cash-in hand. These are some of the same things that would worry me, but I understand she could do it and happy she is… best of luck to her.
Now I am back, it’s been challenging to be motivated to return to work. Now that I think of it, rather tomorrow because I don’t know if I can deal with the drunken pool party goers on Sundays who have remained awake since Friday night. It is tomorrow.
